Dear Friend,
Migrants should be welcomed with dignity and have their rights respected. But right now, the Biden administration is denying people their right to claim asylum under U.S. and international law.
Instead, President Biden has ordered 1,500 troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to deter people seeking safety in the U.S. And now the administration has announced a cruel new policy that bars people from applying for asylum if they can’t make an appointment online prior to arriving at the border.
Sign our petition: Tell President Biden to stop militarizing our border and uphold the right to asylum!
By imposing these barriers, the Biden administration places migrants in even greater danger. Migrants are being sent back to harmful situations they’re escaping—and being kept from reuniting with loved ones in the U.S. At the same time, the U.S. is expanding military presence at the southern border and throughout Latin America.
All people, regardless of where they were born, should be able to seek refuge in the U.S. Join us in speaking out today. Urge President Biden to restore the right to claim asylum—and to stop militarizing our border and beyond.
In peace,
Amy Gottlieb
U.S. Migration Director
