You can transform research into action and power. Dear John, As you know, we at PRA provide you with regular and timely assessments of supremacist and authoritarian movements. What you may not know is that—in spite of the Right’s unrelenting attacks on marginalized communities and government institutions—you give us hope that just and inclusive democracy is coming. For over 40 years, people like you have resourced PRA to inform our collective understanding of antidemocratic forces, illuminate the interplay between right-wing social movements and systemic inequities, and inform progressive responses to bigoted and authoritarian strategies. PRA has never been in higher demand. Thanks to you, we have more than tripled our staff since 2016, enabling us to reach much larger audiences and work closely with many more organizing and advocacy groups. Will you pitch in today to help us turn research into action and power? “At a time when anti-democratic and anti-human rights forces are on the march across our country, the work of PRA is needed now more than ever. Grounding our responses to those opposed to creating a nation which works for all in data, analysis and a fundamental understanding of what’s driving the right is the only way to win. PRA brings this vital understanding to every corner of the progressive movements and the tools they offer are essential to all those fighting for a better future.” - Imara Jones, Creator of TransLash, Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People in 2023 With your support, PRA is working with frontline LGBTQ and reproductive rights & justice groups to understand and respond to the dangerous cocktail of anti-trans and anti-abortion organizing and legislative campaigns around the country. Your support helps PRA reach broad audiences through such leading outlets as The Nation magazine; create accessible “101” and “201” explainers on topics like anti-LGBTQ disinformation; reach thousands of organizers and advocates through conference presentations; sit in on strategy meetings with movement partners; and inform more journalists on faster timelines to push back against anti-LGBTQ, anti-abortion, anti-immigrant, and antidemocratic legislation. Will you support PRA today to ensure we are equipped for the fights ahead? In response to the outpouring of support and enormity of the challenges ahead of us, PRA recently adopted a new five-year strategic plan to focus our work and multiply the impact of your giving by prioritizing the following goals: Critical Analysis: Equip social justice organizations, civic leaders, journalists & other partners with timely, actionable research on antidemocratic, authoritarian, and supremacist trends and movements. Narrative Change: Shift the paradigm for how civil society addresses the existential crisis posed by 21st century antidemocratic movements. Strategic Partnerships: Partner with justice-oriented groups and organizers at national, state, and local levels on strategies for blocking the advance of antidemocratic forces. Internal Culture: Establish the optimal resources, infrastructure, and talent to guarantee the sustainability of PRA so long as supremacist and authoritarian movements remain a threat. Block the Right and build just and inclusive democracy today Together we will block the further capture of governing power by antidemocratic forces; build just, visionary alternatives; and transform our society into a truly just and inclusive democracy that works for everyone. Thank you for all you do to build a better future.
