John — I just got word that our 2022 opponent, far-right Republican Scott Gryder, was spotted in Washington D.C. yesterday, possibly due to some big GOP events happening in town. This could be Gryder’s first step in preparing to run against Lauren again. You may remember that Gryder campaigned on an extreme, out-of-touch agenda that ranged from supporting a federal abortion ban, to opposing common sense assault weapons measures, and denying the legitimacy of climate change. We’d expect the same pro-Trump, anti-democratic campaign this time around. Scott Gryder is downright dangerous, and it’s critical that we keep him from flipping this seat and helping Republicans further enact their far-right agenda in Washington. Less than two weeks before the 2022 primary, our race was downgraded from “Leans Democrat” to “Toss-Up” with Gryder running TV ads directly attacking Lauren. All this to say, the GOP has not stopped mounting their offensive, misleading voters and stacking opponents vying to take this seat and control IL-14. This is all part of their plan to hold on to and increase their House majority. That means we cannot skip a beat. We must continue building our resources, team and outreach efforts as our race heats up.
