Friend,
For more than twenty-five years, Congress has provided Israel security funding while passing resolutions to support a two-state solution.
During this time, Israel has strategically expanded illegal settlements, committed flagrant violations of human rights against Palestinian children and families, and aggressively undermined prospects for a Palestinian state.
Enough is enough. It's time for Congress to stand up and defend the human rights of the Palestinian people.
That's why I re-introduced the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act.
My bill would prohibit Israel from using U.S. taxpayer funding for the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children, unlawful seizure and destruction of Palestinian property, and Israel's unilateral annexation of Palestinian territory in violation of international humanitarian law.
It would also require the U.S. Government Accountability Office to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the expenditure of U.S. taxpayer funds by Israel to ensure compliance.
There is growing consensus among the American people that Israel's oppression of Palestinian human rights cannot continue. But we need your help to keep up the momentum.
If you can, will you pitch in $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you today to power our work to promote human rights, peace, and justice for Palestinians?
Human rights, civil rights, and democratic rights are non-negotiable.
Thank you for standing with me,
Rep. Betty McCollum
Member of Congress
