Dear SPUC supporter,
Major report on China launching in Parliament on 16 May: Invite your MP
As you know, coerced abortion is one of our major campaigning themes. We are always looking for new and creative ways to share that messaging, and I am pleased to let you know about a major new campaign we’re running on coerced abortion in China.
SPUC has been concerned about China’s coercive reproductive policies since the infamous One-Child Policy was introduced in 1979. We have long spoken out against the forced abortion, sterilisation and other human rights abuses perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party in the name of population control. We have also raised the scandal of UK taxpayers money being sent in aid to China.

Now, we have written a new report, laying out in detail the evidence of forced abortion and other coercive reproductive practices in China, especially against the Uyghur minority in Xinjiang, and the extent of UK taxpayers’ money being sent to China. We will also be running a major petition on this issue, calling for all UK aid to China to be ended. This campaign will both highlight an important international issue, and open the conversation around coercion in the UK more widely.
The launch of COMPLICIT: Is UK money contributing to coerced abortion in China?  will be taking place in the House of Commons on Tuesday 16th of May.Â
You can help us in this first stage of the campaign by encouraging your MP to come to this event. We have created an email template tool to help you do this, which can be found at the below link:
|
|
Just type in your postcode, which brings up who your MP is, and an editable email template. Edit this template if you can, and press submit – it will be sent directly to your MP.
We want as many MPs as possible to come to this event, and the people they listen to the most, are you, their constituents!
Thank you for campaigning with us.
