We need real investment in community solutions for community safety.

Dear John,

We need a positive agenda to advance community safety in the face of efforts to roll back the gains we've already made. The Community Safety Legislative Agenda for 2023 outlines substantive solutions agreed upon by more than 70 organizations nationwide. It advances solutions that invest in individuals, families, and communities — not in police and prisons — to keep people safe. These are investments in community health, housing, summer jobs and youth programs. Investing in the community also includes supporting policies such as the Break The Cycle of Violence Act, which would make significant recurring investments in violence intervention; the Mental Health Justice Act, which would support local and state governments in training and dispatching mental health professionals to respond to people undergoing a mental health crisis; and the People’s Response Act, which would fund robust investments in community safety through a new Division of Community Safety within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We ask for your help in ensuring Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration hear our collective voices. Demand passage of the Community Safety Legislative Agenda.

Keep Communities Safe - Call on Congress to suport the Community Safety Agenda.

We’ve seen the results of over-policing and punitive policies aimed at locking up more and more people. We need support for policies that will improve public safety on our communities' terms. Dozens of organizations nationwide are signing on to support the Community Safety Legislative Agenda, demanding solutions already proven to reduce violence in our communities. We've allowed these proven solutions to be underfunded for too long.

We must lift the Community Safety Legislative Agenda to demand real safety.

Keep Communities Safe - Call on Congress to suport the Community Safety Agenda.

In the aftermath of the George Floyd protests in 2020, we’ve seen a genuine outpouring for alternatives to policing that threatens Black lives. The need for real solutions and genuine community safety has been reinforced by the heinous police murders of Breonna Taylor in 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky, and Tyre Nichols earlier this year in Memphis. In communities across the country, people and organizations are crafting innovative responses to the need for public safety solutions based on the resources our communities must have to survive and thrive.

We need you to make your voice heard! Sign now to tell your congressional representatives to support the Community Safety Legislative Agenda for 2023.

Until Justice Is Real,
