Abetted by most of the Republican Party, Donald Trump has — not for the first time in his “illustrious” life — dodged responsibility.
Trump is slippery. Like a wad of grease slathered in used motor oil.
So we need all hands on deck to hold him accountable!
Please take a minute to read the note I sent yesterday evening (copied below in case you missed it) after Republican cowards in the United States Senate refused to convict Trump for the abuses of power he inarguably committed.
And, if you can, donate today to help power forward the work you and Public Citizen are doing together to challenge Trump and his Republican lapdogs.
Contribute now.
Thank you.

“Donald Trump is innocent” or “it really wasn’t that bad.”
Those are the lies Mitch McConnell and Trump’s other Republican bootlickers in the United States Senate — who just wrapped up their counterfeit impeachment trial by failing to convict the president — are telling.
In reality, the most corrupt, immoral, obnoxious president in our nation’s history was just given a “get out of jail free” card by a Republican Party / Fox News apparatus that is perpetrating an unprecedented and utterly shameless assault on the very core of our democracy.
Nothing seems to matter to Republicans in Congress except holding on to power — ill-gotten though it may be thanks to Citizens United, toxic gerrymandering, flagrant voter suppression and Trump’s dangerous demagoguery — so they can continue serving their billionaire and Big Business puppet masters.
So, what now?
Do we throw our hands up? Do we stick our heads in the sand? Do we give in?
Hell.
No.
We fight.
For nearly half a century, Public Citizen — that’s you and me and hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans who believe in the promise of what this country can actually be — has been fighting for, and winning, progress that others deemed “impossible.”
Even in the midst of this absolute disaster of a presidency, we have brought the full force of our experience and expertise to bear in the courts, in Congress and in federal agencies, limiting much of the damage that Trump and his lackeys have tried to inflict.
We are not about to stop now.
It will take even more of the organizing, research, lobbying, lawsuits and other vital work that Public Citizen is so well known for.
As much as we were doing yesterday, we simply have no choice but to find ways to do even more tomorrow.
I’m asking you to stand with us as we continue standing up to Donald Trump, who will — let’s not kid ourselves — be emboldened by escaping conviction.
Whether you’re enraged, saddened or — like me — both, let’s channel the way we feel right now into the collective power to do something about it.
Please donate to Public Citizen today.
Or even join our popular Monthly Giving program.
So much is on the line.
Thank you.
