Friend —

House Republicans are holding the global economy hostage, and last week, they handed us their ransom note. They're threatening to create a worldwide crisis unless we cut Medicaid, food stamps, veterans' health benefits, and so much more.

Let's be clear: Millions of people's livelihoods and financial futures aren't bargaining chips. We cannot allow the country to default — but this sham of a proposal is a complete non-starter.

America can’t default on its bills, and that means we need the momentum to show Republicans how serious we are. Will you sign your name to send a clear message you won't stand with Republicans gambling on your dime? <[link removed]>

This is exactly what Republicans have spent years denying they're trying to do. In fact, they're already on the air, trying anything and everything to spin this disastrous vote. Well, the cat's out of the bag now — and we can't ever let them forget it.

There is nothing fiscally responsible about threatening to blow up the world economy. There is nothing fiscally responsible about cutting investments in working people. Republicans have proved, once and for all, that they care nothing about fiscal responsibility.

This is extremism through and through, and we need to show them that we see it for what it is. Sign your name if you agree >> <[link removed]>

In disgust,

Ted
