"Henry" was in one of the first No Bully Solution Teams I ever coached, and he was from a very troubled background.

From a Rhode Island teacher...

When I was asked for a success story with the No Bully program, many students came to mind, but the one that stands out is a particular fifth grade boy.  "Henry" was in one of the first No Bully Solution Teams™ I ever coached, and he was from a very troubled background.

He had been repeatedly targeting a peer, making fun of their shoes, clothing and appearance. The target was at the point that they did not want to come to school. When I spoke to the target’s parents, I found they were familiar with Henry (the “bully”). They reluctantly agreed to the Solution Team process.

He not only stopped targeting his peer, but he also became their 'protector'.

The turnaround in Henry was astounding. He not only stopped targeting his peer, but he also became their “protector”. And, as the school year went on, he became a protector of others, reporting to me when someone was being picked on or treated poorly, and stepping in to stand up for things that he knew were wrong.

I believe that two important aspects in the program were integral to Henry's success.  The first was the leveraging of the empathy that this student already had inside of him; he grew to understand how his actions affected others. The second is that he was put into a positive role (i.e. helper instead of bully), which was different for him because of his negative life experiences. He embraced the role and the transformation was great to see.

Henry's transformation is not an exception - 96% of students experience a reduction in bullying through our program. Your donation is tax deductible and helps bring No Bully programming to schools across the country and internationally. We can't thank you enough for supporting our students and our work in schools.

Dear John,

Oftentimes I feel the greatest measure of No Bully's mission impact is the personal stories that students and teachers send back to us. Stories of pain, growth, transition, and finally hope and compassion...and we have YOU to thank. Your generosity shapes the daily experiences of our students and the positive change you create means everything to us. Please consider making a gift to support No Bully today so we may continue to make a difference for as many children as possible.

With gratitude,

Sophie Cary
