It’s no secret that right now, LGBTQ+ rights are facing a coordinated campaign of hate and discrimination from the far-right all over the country.

Since January, state and federal legislators have proposed more than 450 anti-LGBTQ+ bills that restrict health care access, target trans youth, ban LGBTQ+ inclusive curricula in schools, and otherwise endanger and harm LGBTQ+ people. We can’t sit by and can’t let this go unanswered, which is why we are going to bat for LGBTQ+ rights in Congress.

In the past few months, my team and I:

Transgender
Bill
of
Rights
,
a
landmark
resolution
to
recognize
the
federal
government’s
duty
in
protecting
the
rights
of
transgender
and
nonbinary
people
and
to
ensure
trans
people
have
access
to
medical
care,
shelter,
safety,
and
economic
security.

Introduced
the
International
Human
Rights
Defense
Act
to
reaffirm
the
U.S.’s
commitment
to
protecting
and
promoting
LGBTQ+
rights
as
part
of
our
foreign
diplomacy,
including
when
working
with
our
international
partners.

Led
an
effort
to
put
pressure
on
the
Biden
administration
and
federal
agencies
to
loosen
restrictions
on
testosterone
to
make
it
easier
for
trans
people
to
access
the
health
care
on
which
they
rely.

We’re doing what we can to bring about change in Congress, and there will be more crucial legislation to come. But we need your help if we want to take any big steps forward.

The GOP is so focused on tearing down LGBTQ+ rights because they think it’s a winning campaign issue. It’s up to us to remind them that a strong majority of Americans stand with their LGBTQ+ neighbors and want to see us go forward, not backwards.
