Hi John, this is Heidi from the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) and I wanted to make sure you saw my message and video the other day. The Title 42 mass expulsion border policy ends today, and instead of a more compassionate and humane approach, the Biden administration is implementing a new ban that will dramatically limit access to asylum for people seeking safety at the U.S.-Mexico border.

NIJC is fighting to protect people seeking safety through our advocacy, litigation, and legal services. We need your help.

Will you join us to create a system that welcomes people who are seeking protection and safety?

Please donate now at https://immigrantjustice.org/RapidResponse.

Thank you!

John, for the past three years, the U.S. government has used a rule called Title 42 to turn away people who arrive at the southern border seeking safety, without even an asylum screening. You likely have seen the news that Title 42 is set to end this week.

I’m the director of policy here at the National Immigrant Justice Center. I recorded this video to share with you my thoughts on what should have been a day of hope for people seeking asylum and immigrant communities. Instead, we see the Biden administration doubling down on cruel policies that punish people seeking refuge. Watch now:

My colleagues and I have offered workable solutions for a compassionate, humane approach to border migration policy. I invite you to join us.

If you believe as we do that all people, regardless of their background, deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion, join us with your gift today.

Thank you for standing with people seeking asylum,

Heidi Altman
