Washington Post Perspective: “The Supreme Court’s biggest case this term threatens American democracy”
It’s not an exaggeration, team.
Simply put, the fringe “independent state legislature” at the center of Moore v. Harper is a willful misinterpretation of our Constitution. If the Republican lawmakers advancing this theory prevail, it would give control of our elections to anti-democracy politicians and pave the way for:
❌ Purges of voters from voting rolls
❌ Cuts to early voting & vote-by-mail options
❌ Discriminatory barriers to voting access
❌ Fewer protections against voter intimidation
❌ Rigged voting maps
Team, we can’t sit around and wait to see how SCOTUS rules. Instead, we must continue efforts to help elect pro-democracy candidates nationwide who will work to protect our elections regardless of what the Court does.
