We’re excited to officially launch our Voting Rights Road Trip — a virtual tour of key states where voting rights, reproductive freedoms, and other fundamental rights are being challenged right now, giving you insight into how Fair Fight Action is fighting back.

Today we’re stopping in North Carolina, the Tar Heel State. North Carolina’s voting population is rapidly growing, and anti-voter politicians are willing to do anything to retain their power — in this case, by suppressing the freedom to vote.

Just recently, the North Carolina Supreme Court allowed a restrictive voter ID law to move forward, upheld partisan gerrymandering, and maintained outdated and unjust felony disenfranchisement laws — decisions that will disproportionately target Black voters.

This is just the tip of the iceberg: In 2023 so far, anti-voter extremists in North Carolina have introduced or passed over 26 voter suppression bills. State lawmakers are also moving forward with an extreme abortion ban — in hopes of reversing decades of progress for North Carolinians and their families.

Alongside Current NC, we’re fighting back against extremism and defending the freedom to vote. With our Voter Empowerment Task Force in North Carolina, we’re working hand-in-hand with on-the-ground partners and officials to prevent, mitigate, and bring to light every anticipated hurdle for voters, before they materialize.

Our mission of protecting the freedom to vote for all eligible voters goes beyond a single county, city, or state. By partnering with community leaders and elected officials on the ground nationwide, we provide them resources to build long-term power.
