Waters talk CU priorities, committee's efforts
Continuing NAFCU's
credit union priorities push for the new year, association President and CEO Dan
Berger and Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler were on Capitol Hill
Wednesday to meet with credit union champion Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and
her senior staff. As chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Waters plays
an instrumental role in the development of policy that impacts credit unions and their ability to serve members.
NAFCU,
trades ask FCC for autodialer definition
In a follow up to a petition
filed in May 2018, NAFCU Wednesday joined with more than a dozen other trade groups
and stakeholders to ask the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to clarify
the definition of automatic telephone dialing system (ATDS) under the Telephone
Consumer Protection Act. The coalition previously petitioned the FCC for clarification
following an appeals court's decision that invalidated the FCC's autodialer definition.

Ahead of today's House
Financial Services Committee hearing reviewing the CFPB, NAFCU Vice President
of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler sent a letter to the committee suggesting areas
where NAFCU believes the structure and operations of the CFPB could be enhanced.
