This is what a movement can do.

John,

I sat through all six hours of debates this week. And you know what nobody proposed?

Cutting Social Security.

That’s because something stunning has happened over the last decade: Our movement successfully changed the conversation, so Democrats aren’t thinking of Social Security as a problem to be solved. They’re thinking of it as a solution to a looming retirement security crisis, and the only question is how much to expand it.

You did that. Just six years ago, a Democratic President proposed Social Security cuts in his budget. Now, every candidate on stage last night supported expanding Social Security, and many of them called for expanding Medicare and fighting big pharma.

This is the power of a movement.

Social Security Works and our members have been at the forefront of this change, and we’re not going to back down. And next month, we have a chance to pass the first Social Security expansion bill through the U.S. House!

Keep our movement strong! Chip in $7 to expand Social Security and keep pushing the Democratic Party to take on the greedy drug and insurance corporations.

Our Social Security system is a model that every candidate should seek to emulate. By offering simple, universal benefits, it has maintained its popularity for nearly 84 years.

When we stand together, we’ll keep it solid for at least 84 more.

Thank you,

Michael Phelan
