Did you know there is already a Republican in the race for Governor of Washington State? And he is promising to repeal Bob’s successful ban on the sale of assault weapons if he is elected.
We need to take this threat seriously. Many think of Washington as a “safe blue” state, but that simply isn’t the case when it comes to gubernatorial campaigns, like this one, without an incumbent.
In the last two campaigns for Governor when there was no incumbent, the average margin of victory was just 1.5%. Want even more evidence? The Republican Governors Association spent over $11 million the last time we didn’t have an incumbent Governor.
We need to be prepared for an even greater onslaught of cash this time.
On top of that, we have a new challenge. As you may know, Washington State law prohibits Bob from raising money during a legislative session. And last week, the Governor announced a “30 Day Special Session” beginning in less than a week. That means we enter ANOTHER “fundraising freeze” and won’t be able to fundraise for our Exploratory Campaign.
Our donation page turns off and we can’t raise a dime until the Special Session ends – and that could be up to 30 days.
