Dear John,

Yes! We are crying wolf with this email because we have the only known video of a wolf in California using a culvert to cross a busy highway – and we’re sharing it with you first!

Check out the video here:

Congrats to our research partners at Pathways for Wildlife, who captured this image during our ongoing data collection. This collaborative research answers critical questions about how wildlife navigate across and around roads - not always so successfully.

Over the past two years, field videos like ours have helped significantly increase public interest in the challenges animals face when crossing roads. As a result, legislation sponsored by Wildlands Network and the Center for Biological Diversity was signed into law by Governor Newsom, requiring the state to identify barriers to wildlife movement and prioritize the construction of crossing structures.

In collaboration with partners, we organized support from a diverse coalition while also leading research in specific areas that illuminate the opportunity and challenges state agencies face.

You made this possible through your support of Wildlands Network.

Wildlands Network puts every one of your dollars to work to sustain the partnerships that matter to achieve results on the ground for wildlife like wolves.

We leverage science, law, and policy expertise to make government work better for wildlife – preserving natural habitat so life can flourish.

Help us build on this momentous victory. Please give today!

For the wild,
