John,
We know we’ve been sending a lot of emails lately, but today we want to keep you up to date with what Hillary is working on in Congress. Here’s a quick overview of just a few of the things she’s been up to lately:
Connecting with West Michiganders
At last week’s town hall in Grand Rapids, Hillary spoke about the issues she’s tackled in her first 100 days in office, including strengthening child labor laws, preventing gun violence, and bringing home federal funds for infrastructure improvements.
Since becoming a member of Congress, Hillary has met with hundreds of students from across West Michigan to hear about the issues that matter most to them, from protecting endangered species to advocating for the Census to recognize union apprenticeships and trade schools.
Legislative Work
Hillary is fighting to make sure members of the Coast Guard are paid fairly when the government shuts down – they are currently the only branch of the armed services that are not guaranteed pay.
She also continues to advocate for safe, accessible reproductive healthcare access – including fighting for the FDA, not activist judges, to make decisions on what prescription drugs are safe for Americans.
Celebrating West Michigan
This summer, Grand Haven will host its first-ever pride festival! We are so excited to celebrate with our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors.
Team Scholten will be participating in Congressman Jamie Raskin’s Democracy Summer program! We are so excited to welcome campaign fellows who will get state-of-the-art training in phone-banking, text-banking, canvassing, fundraising and voter registration – not to mention special seminars hosted by top organizers and political leaders from all across the country!
We know Hillary’s work in Congress would not be possible without supporters like you. Thank you for everything that you do.
Gratefully,
Scholten HQ
