Dear john,
This past Friday, the Emergency Food and Shelter Program National Board announced over $60 million in federal funding for TX-28 to help cities and organizations deal with the incoming wave of migrants expected following the expiration of Title 42. The funding will go to the cities of San Antonio and Laredo, Catholic Charities San Antonio, Catholic Charities Laredo, and United Way San Antonio.
These funds are paramount to secure our southern border and I will continue working at all levels of government to ensure that our communities and organizations are equipped to handle the ongoing immigration crisis. I have been in constant coordination with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and our local entities to tackle the challenges that continue to arise in our border communities.
As always, if you need help with a federal agency, please contact one of my offices: - Washington, DC: (202) 225-1640
- Laredo: (956) 725-0639
- San Antonio: (210) 271-2851
- Rio Grande City: (956) 487-5603

Congratulations to my good friend, John Sharp, Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, and his wife, Diana, on getting married! Diana's family is from Laredo.
It was a beautiful ceremony - Imelda and I are happy to have been part of it.
May your wedding be just a glimpse of the beautiful life the two of you will build together. We wish you much happiness and love in the days ahead.

I stopped by Martin High School for Law Enforcement Career day at the LISD Performing Arts Center.
Law enforcement is an essential part of our community and I want to encourage all students to research the different career opportunities in law enforcement available to them.
Thank you to all the men and women who keep our community safe!

My wife, Imelda, and I visited Calvary Catholic Cemetery to take flowers to our parents. May they rest in peace.
It’s important to always remember loved ones who have passed. Taking them flowers or saying a prayer are two small, but meaningful, actions to honor their memories. Take some time to remember your loved ones.

My Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Peña, attended the Commemorative Civic Ceremony of the "Battle of Puebla."
On May 5th, 1862, the Mexican army defeated the French army outside the city of Puebla, Mexico, in a historic battle. That victory helped set the tone for Mexico to eventually win the war against the invading French.
