Last week we launched our 2023 Annual Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ Young People ([link removed]) , sharing the need for all of us to stand up, support and affirm LGBTQ young people.

The 2023 Annual Survey once again showed that LGBTQ young people are at higher risk of depression, anxiety, and suicide compared to their non-LGBTQ peers. However, these risks can be mitigated by providing them with supportive and affirming environments where they feel seen, heard, and accepted for who they are.

The 2023 Annual Survey ([link removed]) highlighted the following crucial statistics:
* Fewer than 40% of LGBTQ young people found their home to be LGBTQ-affirming.
* Roughly half of transgender and nonbinary young people found their school to be gender-affirming, and those who did reported lower rates of attempting suicide.

Whether you’re a teacher, a parent, a friend, or a community leader, you can create a more inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ young people. We asked LGBTQ young people what topics would be most helpful for the adults in their lives to learn more about. 82% of LGBTQ young people reported that it would be helpful for the people in their lives to learn more about how to support and accept LGBTQ young people.
