It’s hard to believe because it seems like yesterday, but I co-founded Power the Vote just about two years ago. Like you, I saw the threat of election deniers. But I also saw the opportunity to fight back by creating a completely new – and better – voter protection program.
And then I surprised everyone and quit my full-time law firm job to make that dream a reality.
And here we are, two years later, with the permanent, year-round voter protection teams that we support doing the work day in and day out. They develop relationships with pro-democracy county boards of elections that want to help citizens vote, and help voters who would otherwise be shut out of our democracy.
But sometimes their work also means shining a light on those who would suppress voters – or, like these two NC County Board of Elections members, refuse to certify a valid election.
Either way, the teams we support are always there, fighting for voters and for democracy.
