Dear John,

While many “nonpartisan” organizations are fighting battles inside the partisan echo-chamber, the Independent Voter Project is breaking down the institutional barriers that silence independent-minded voters.

We’re knocking on the door of the Supreme Court in California, we’re changing the election rules in San Diego, and we’re supporting reformers across the country who are sick and tired of partisan politics -- and we’re doing something about it.

IVP's Lawsuit Goes to the California Supreme Court

CA Lawsuit
If the State suppressed the turnout of Democratic or Republican voters with confusing rules, like they do with no party preference voters, the political parties would make this their #1 issue.
If no one else will stand up for independent voters, the Independent Voter Project will.

Bringing More Choice to San Diego Elections

More Choice San Diego
Fourteen years ago, we wrote and passed California's nonpartisan primary initiative. Six years ago, we wrote and passed San Diego’s “Measure K.”
These revolutionary reforms shook up the establishment and made independent voters more influential.

Now, we’re joined by a huge coalition to advance our most revolutionary reform yet.

We’re proud of the work we do. The good news?

There are people and organizations all over the country doing the hard work too.
As a founding member of the National Association of Nonpartisan Reformers and a co-publisher of Independent Voter News (IVN), we are proud to work with and highlight organizations that, like us, are challenging institutional barriers to nonpartisan representation every day.

But we need YOUR help.

JOIN THE EXISTENCE

Pundits ignore us. Primaries exclude us. Political scientists say we are just “closet partisans.”

And powerful special interests line the pockets of both political parties to keep us divided.
That’s why The Existence, our monthly giving program, is so important.

YOUR contributions, however small, help us file lawsuits, pass initiatives, and tell the political class: you can’t ignore independent voters any longer.
