Rep. Lee is an icon and a trailblazer. From working with the NAACP to integrate her cheerleading squad as a teenager to the 25 years she's spent fighting for reproductive freedom, climate action, LGBTQ+ rights and more in Congress, she is a true champion for progress. 

I've been fortunate to call Rep. Lee a friend, mentor, and partner for well over a decade – long before I had the honor of serving alongside her in Congress – and I’ve witnessed innumerable examples of her bold, progressive leadership, but one thing I want to hone in on is her leadership in the fight for reproductive justice – and why we desperately need a voice like hers in the Senate. 

As chair of the Pro-Choice Caucus’ (PCC) Abortion Rights and Access Task Force, I've had the honor of working closely with Rep. Lee, who serves as co-chair of the full Pro-Choice Caucus. Together, we have introduced groundbreaking legislation including the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act, the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Healthcare (EACH) Act and the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023.

And let me tell you, John – Barbara Lee is nowhere near finished with her advocacy for reproductive rights. She is going to keep working until every person has access to safe, legal reproductive care, including abortion – and that's just one of the many reasons why she has my support for Senate.

John, Barbara Lee is exactly the kind of fearless fighter we need to go toe-to-toe with Republicans in the Senate and stand up for our communities. Representation matters, and Rep. Lee will bring the full breadth of her lived experience to the Senate. I can't wait to see all that she'll accomplish.
