Activists are enraged after unhoused Jordan Neely was killed on an NYC subway.

A coroner has ruled the death of Jordan Neely, an unhoused man strangled by former U.S. Marine Daniel Penny on a New York City subway, to be a homicide. Neely's death has sparked outrage among human and homeless rights activists, who are demanding Penny be arrested.

GOP Rep. George Santos in custody, charged with fraud, money laundering

New York Republican Congressman George Santos is in federal custody after turning himself in this morning. Charges against the first-term representative include fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and two counts of lying to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Some state legislatures and governors are opposing harm reduction measures, instead wanting to increase criminal penalties and limit access to programs designed to help people use illegal drugs more safely. Many are saying harm reduction can enable and encourage drug use.

Wisconsin bill would allow 14-year-olds to serve alcohol

Under a new Wisconsin bill, it would be legal for 14-year-olds to sell alcohol and work in licensed establishments. The bill must pass the Republican-controlled Senate and Assembly and be signed by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers before becoming law.

FDA reconsiders requiring birth control pill prescription

For the first time, the FDA is considering allowing people to get birth control pills without a prescription. The agency will hold a two-day meeting with independent advisers to discuss the possibility. The FDA is expected to make a final decision by the end of the summer.
