Friend -
I am scratching my head.
Right Wing attacks on Disney and Budweiser, Right Wing cancel culture attacking Woke culture by banning books and only allowing curriculum that praises America (totally missing the meaning of critical thinking), and even eating their own by letting Silicon Valley Bank collapse to protect their own greedy interests.
What is happening?
The Left is not necessarily any wiser; ridiculing the Right and dancing a victory dance for every little mistake of the Right. Though I resoundingly see myself as coming from a “very left” perspective I don’t think our way to a better tomorrow is by demonizing the way normal conservative voters think. Even though we must fight and really target the small group of wealthy individuals (the “Villains”) that manipulate and control Right Wing media and politics. We should not alienate moderate and conservative thinking voters who don’t agree with our most progressive thoughts.
In search of humility for me means knowing that we share a common fault of biases and self-righteousness. We must find a way to embrace diversity not by creating competing cultures. We must embrace critical thinking as a foundational piece of a democracy. This includes educated debates on working conditions, how to make money, and the role of government.
We at PowerPAC want to unite a majority of people behind policies and politics that make people’s lives better. For us this starts with finding common ground and building on that through debate and dialogue.
Our goal with the “Down is What’s Up!” work is to create local spaces to unite communities of color with multi-racial women and youth voters around progressive candidates and policies that make it better for a wide range of people. But as I said, we also want to fight against those that manipulate politics and the media so we will continue to identify the Villains and target their nasty methods and work.
I believe these things need to be done with a good amount of humility. That our goal is not to prove someone wrong or “gin up” hate against other people. It is to show leadership in uniting the broadest alignment of voters. How a democracy is supposed to work.
More WhARF news next week,

Executive Director PowerPAC
PowerPAC is a social justice organization that strategically directs financial and human resources to local and state organizations working to deliver wins in legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and more. For years the money we've raised has, dollar for dollar, been given back to the communities we work with. We've made sure that your investments were being used to build power for our communities because too often we are underrepresented and ignored.
