Dear Friend,
As I prepare for another Mother's Day with my mother and children, I remember that many mothers are still behind bars. I know the pain they feel being away from their children on Mother's Day. I know because I felt that pain when I served my sentence.
This Mother's Day, will you donate in support of FAMM’s Second Chances Agenda? [link removed] [[link removed]]
When I received my prison sentence of 80 months (about 6 and a half years), I never thought I would hug my mother again or see her alive. Thankfully, I was granted a second chance. Last year, just before Mother's Day, I was released from prison, allowing me to see my mother, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday, and experience what I know as my most memorable Mother's Day yet.
FAMM’s Second Chances Agenda aims to create as many mechanisms as possible to give people second chances, reunite families, and reduce mass incarceration. FAMM’s Second Chances Agenda includes passing “second look” laws, expanding compassionate release, and using clemency more often.
Many mothers like me are stuck in prison because they were given extreme prison sentences and awaiting their second chance. FAMM’s Second Chances Agenda means that no one is defined by their past or locked away and forgotten simply because of poor choices.
I want to honor every mother there and show them we will not leave them behind. This Mother's Day, will you donate to FAMM and help thousands of families get the second chance they deserve? [link removed] [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
