Today, the Senate voted to acquit President Trump, and the impeachment trial is finally over. I wanted to take just a moment to share with you my thoughts on this whole process.
 

Instead of impeachment, Congress could have been busy doing the work of the American people. Confirming more of the President’s judicial nominees, eliminating regulations, you name it. But instead, we devoted months and months to a trial that many Americans, frankly, think was a waste of time. I wanted to know how Louisiana voters felt about impeachment, so I commissioned a poll to find out.
 

Turns out that among voters in Louisiana, only 33% approved of the way that House Democrats handled impeachment while 59% disapproved. On top of that, 55% of Louisiana voters believe that House Democrats should never have impeached President Trump in the first place, compared with only 35% saying he should have been impeached.
 

I also tested my and President Trump’s favorability ratings in our poll to determine how voters felt about the job we are doing, and here’s what I found:
 

1.     My numbers remained strong with 57% of Louisiana voters having a favorable view of the job I’m doing as Senator, while 29% had an unfavorable view (14% had no opinion).

2.     President Trump also looks strong with 52% of LA voters having a favorable view of him, while 40% had an unfavorable view (8% had no opinion).
