Dear John,
[link removed]

We just released a new paper, “Preparing for 2024: Election Technology and the Battle Against Disinformation.” Read it here ([link removed]) . Our paper explains how, despite continued disinformation about the security of voting systems, U.S. voting equipment ([link removed]) deployment has become more resilient over time—and how, with the right resources, election officials can make more improvements to how elections are administered ahead of the 2024 elections.

Verified Voting breaks down the voting equipment issues ([link removed]) our team saw in the 2022 midterm elections through our work with the Election Protection coalition’s 866-Our-Vote ([link removed]) hotline, including mis- and disinformation that our team helped debunk ([link removed]) in the media. Our analysis ([link removed]) shows that despite continued disinformation about voting equipment, in 2022 “election officials and poll workers generally responded appropriately and with speed, allowing voters to continue to vote and have confidence their ballots would be counted as cast.”

In 2024, U.S. elections are on track for the most secure and resilient use of election equipment yet. We offer key recommendations ([link removed]) for election officials, voters, and legislators, including more state and federal funding for upgrading election equipment, protecting our election officials and poll workers, and combating mis- and disinformation.

While it is likely that efforts to undermine trust in our elections will continue apace, these baseless claims and conspiracy theories are simply that: unfounded. We’ll give the public real answers about how elections work, provide data-driven tools ([link removed]) and analysis, and support the election officials who are dedicated to making our elections more resilient. We hope you’ll consider a gift ([link removed]) to support our work.

With thanks,
Corrie Emerson,
Sr. Communications Officer
