In the final vote of Trump’s impeachment trial, Susan Collins chose loyalty to Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump over the Constitution, our democracy, and the Mainers who elected her.

First, Susan Collins said that Trump “learned his lesson,” then admitted that her remarks were “aspirational.” Our country and our Constitution are on the line, but she’s clearly decided that her career and the Republican party line matter more.

We saw examples of political courage from senators on both sides of the aisle during this “trial.” Susan Collins wasn’t one of those voices — and Mainers deserve better.
