Dear friend, When President Biden called out the latest plan to cut Social Security at this year's State of the Union, Republicans heckled him. Marjorie Taylor Greene yelled, “Liar!” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy rolled his eyes. Well, they can make as much noise as they want, but the facts say that Republicans have tried to take away Social Security for decades. They’ve proposed privatization, raising the minimum eligibility age, and even ending it completely. During last year’s midterms, Senator Rick Scott's proposal even included the terrible idea of putting the program up for a vote every five years. Social Security is a fundamental promise we've made to our citizens and our seniors. After a lifetime of hard work, they deserve better. That's why I'm leading efforts to safeguard this program and ensure that it remains a reliable safety net for generations to come. But I can't do it alone. That's why I'm asking you to join me in signing a petition supporting Social Security. We need 10,000 signatures from Grassroots members of our team who believe in the importance of this program and want to see it protected. Thank you for being so supportive. Sincerely, Debbie Stabenow ![]()
