Dear John,

When Mother Teresa was once asked how she was able to achieve all that she did, she responded: “I never look at the masses as my responsibility; I look at the individual. I can only love one person at a time. Just one, one, one. So you begin…”

This summer, we want to apply this lesson as part of our campaign to build a better global food system. Let’s follow Mother Teresa’s approach. We can start by supporting just one farmer.

Salina is a farmer from Bangladesh who has written a letter to the World Bank calling for the rights of small-scale farmers to use their own varieties of seeds.  This summer, your parish will have an opportunity to support Salina by adding your names to her letter.

CAFOD has prepared a guide with all you need to know in order to organise your Parish activity to support Salina. Go to the CAFOD shop now and request the free

Across the world, millions of small-scale farmers are under threat from laws, pushed by the World Bank, that restrict or even criminalise their free access to seeds, and push them towards having to purchase more expensive commercial seeds.

But farmers across the world are fighting back.

We are inviting all parishes to take part in this action, and show the World Bank that the Catholic community stand in solidarity with small-scale farmers like Salina.
