In the Senate, we just cast one of the most consequential votes we've ever made, and I am proud that every Senate Democrat took a stand for truth and justice.

This decision wasn't easy for any of us, but it was especially hard for my friend and colleague Doug Jones, a Democrat representing the deep-red state of Alabama. Doug faced enormous pressure to vote to acquit the President, but he showed true courage when he cast his vote.
