Bob Ferguson for Governor Exploratory Committee (D)

It’s been one week since I launched my Exploratory Campaign for Governor and the response has been overwhelming — Thank you! It means the world to me, my family, and our whole team.

We’re growing a grassroots movement that will expand on the work I’ve already accomplished as Attorney General — from making our communities safer by banning the sale of assault weapons to fighting for reproductive freedom and protecting access to mifepristone — the medication used for safe abortions.

But if we’re going to take this energy and turn it into a winning campaign, I’m going to need your help.

This race will be a challenge. We often think of Washington as a “safe blue” state, but that’s not true when there is an open seat for Governor. In the last two gubernatorial elections without an incumbent, the average margin of victory was just 1.5%.

Plus, the Republican Governors Association spent more than $11 million the last time there was an open seat, and we expect they’ll spend even more in this race.

On top of that, we have a new challenge. As you may know, Washington State law prohibits me from raising money during a legislative session. And last week, the Governor announced a “30 Day Special Session” beginning one week from today. That means we enter ANOTHER “fundraising freeze” and won’t be able to fundraise for our Exploratory Campaign.

Our donation page turns off and we can’t raise a dime until the Special Session ends — and that could be up to 30 days. This will put us at a major disadvantage.

Time is short. We just launched this campaign and now we will be subject to an unexpected “fundraising freeze.” Can you make a contribution of any amount today to support our Exploratory Campaign for Governor?

Thanks, again.
