MARCH ON is dedicated to increasing voter turnout and driving Democrats to the polls. Our data-driven solutions led the way for progressive victories in 2020 and 2022. Now, we're gearing up to stop Trump’s comeback in 2024.

Friend, it's Teacher Appreciation Week!

We're so grateful for every teacher who has dedicated their life to the tireless, important work of education.

But across the country, ultra-restrictive book bans have put teachers on the front lines of a war on education led by Republican state legislators and governors.

Now, teachers and librarians are being forced to remove books from their shelves or face charges, including up to 5 years in jail in Florida.

Friend, we cannot let these tyrannical book bans stand – so during Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re asking you to take action to defend teachers, librarians, and the freedom to read by contacting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and demanding that he end restrictive book bans now.

Friend, as you may already know, the #1 targets of these Republican-led bans are books that discuss racial issues, LGBTQ+ identities, and women’s empowerment.

But it’s important that everyone is able to read these important works to learn more about history, diversity, and the world around us – so this month, we’ll be recommending banned books for you and your loved ones to read!

March On’s Banned Book Reading List

- And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell

- I Am Jazz by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings

- The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

- Dear Martin by Nic Stone

Thanks for taking action on Read Across America Day!
