Allied Progress launches new website www.CFPBWatch.org to expose the Trump administration’s anti-consumer agenda.

Friend,

If you’ve been following our work, you know that we’ve been tracking the Trump administration’s attacks on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau since the very beginning.

Under the “leadership” of Mick Mulvaney and now Director Kathy Kraninger, the efforts to gut consumer protections have all too often come from inside the CFPB.

These threats have sharply escalated in recent months, and the administration hopes no one is paying attention.

That’s why our new project CFPB Watch is so important. Information is power, and CFPB Watch helps the public understand the motives and meet the key players behind the administration’s anti-consumer, industry-friendly agenda.

We hope you’ll check out the website -- www.CFPBWatch.org -- but first, add your name to tell the political appointees at the CFPB it’s time to stand up for consumers, not special interests!

It’s not just Kathy Kraninger. She’s had a lot of help. The Trump CFPB’s leadership is now mostly made up of industry insiders or former aides to right-wing ideologues in Congress who objected to the bureau’s very existence. Conflicts of interest abound.

It’s no wonder the agency is letting Wall Street off the hook. Here are some startling facts about the CFPB under Trump:

Since Trump’s appointees took over, CFPB enforcement actions have fallen 70 percent.
In her first six months, Trump’s CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger recovered only 6 percent of the consumer relief recovered in a similar period under her Obama-era predecessor.
After the payday loan industry donated $2.2 million to Trump, Director Kraninger proposed killing a key consumer protection against the payday debt trap -- a move that will enrich predatory lenders by $7 BILLION every year!

American consumers are facing enough threats from predatory lenders, greedy banks and other financial scammers -- we don’t need the agency that’s supposed to be on our side making things worse!

If you agree, we need your name on our petition: Tell the Trump political appointees running the CFPB to stand up for consumers!
