Dear John,
As you know, I’m committed to National leading a strong stable
government after the election. That government will be relentlessly
focussed on managing the economy well and addressing the cost of
living so all New Zealanders can get ahead.
Today, I have ruled out National coming to any arrangement
with Te Pāti Māori in forming a government after this year’s
election.
National believes New Zealand is one country with one standard of
citizenship, meaning one person, one vote. Te Pāti Māori has a
different view.
The bridge between National and Te Pāti Māori is too wide to
close.
Te Pāti Māori of 2023 is a very different party to the one National
signed a confidence and supply agreement with three times from 2008.
Back then, our parties worked together well.
But I’m making clear to New Zealanders that in 2023, a vote for Te
Pāti Māori will be a vote for a Labour/Greens/Māori Party coalition of
chaos, and continuing economic mis-management.
National is deeply committed to improving outcomes for Māori, but
doesn’t believe separate systems are the best way to do this.
A National government will deliver strong economic
management to address the cost-of-living crisis and raise incomes so
all Kiwis can get ahead.
National will campaign hard for every vote in the election this
year so we can become the stable government that New Zealand
needs.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work towards a National
win.
Christopher
P.S. With only five months till the election, your support is
crucial to a National
win. Are you able to chip into our election
fund?
