Dear Friend of CURE Epilepsy,
This past weekend we had an unforgettable evening at CURE Epilepsy’s 25th Anniversary Gala, where we marked the incredible progress of the past 25 years and demonstrated the ongoing need for continued scientific advancement. Through the generosity of so many, we were able to surpass our goal of $2 million, raising a record-setting $3.1 million, including a $1 million pledge from Vivian Cotton’s “Mimi,” to continue to fund groundbreaking epilepsy research. You can still be a part of this incredible movement to fund today’s discoveries that will lead to tomorrow’s cures by making a gift ([link removed]) to mark this special anniversary.

Throughout the evening, many of us on stage thanked our founder Susan Axelrod, who spoke movingly about the early days of CURE Epilepsy as well as her personal inspiration, her daughter Lauren. Even 25 years later we could still feel the urgency of the founding mothers. We also heard numerous other families’ stories that spoke to the experience and desperation felt when living with or losing a loved one with epilepsy. A special moment of the evening was when Susan presented the inaugural Founders Award to our first research chair Barb Kelly. It was an honor for me to interview these two legends of our organization on a recent Seizing Life® podcast ([link removed]) .

It is no small feat to keep a non-profit organization going and growing over 25 years, and with more than $90 million raised and 285+ grants awarded in 18 countries we have done just that. Throughout its history, CURE Epilepsy has truly inspired hope and delivered impact, and I know the best is yet to come: eventual cures for epilepsy.

With gratitude,

Kelly Cervantes
