Hi John.
I hope you and your family are well!
My priority remains building an economy that works better for everyone. So today, I wanted to send a quick update on our progress –
Lowering Costs for Kansans
I want to pass along some good news! After pushing the Biden Administration, I’m pleased to share they’ll now permit E15 gasoline sales this summer.
This means lower prices for Kansans at the gas pump. It also means creating opportunities for Kansas farmers and diversifying our energy market.

I recently toured East Kansas Agri-Energy (EKAE), a Garnett-based ethanol plant, and chatted about federal ethanol policies.
I’m glad the EPA answered my call to lower costs for Kansans at the gas pump. Folks are already dealing with high costs right now. This action will help provide crucial relief to folks especially as the busy summer driving season approaches.
This is the right move in the short term, but I’m pushing for more actions to ensure longer-term relief too. That includes supporting a bipartisan bill to make the year-round sale of this fuel permanent and in all states. I’ve also long supported suspending the federal gas tax and cracking down on price gouging by Big Oil companies.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is Making a Difference for Kansas
As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan infrastructure law. Throughout the legislative process, including in meetings with top White House officials, I always made sure Kansas was part of the conversation.
Now we’re continuing to see the results – replacing lead pipes, building safer roads, and more.
In fact, I recently got an update on how the bipartisan infrastructure law is improving stormwater maintenance in Wyandotte County. Please click here to learn more.
In my latest Sharice’s Shift, I shadowed workers from the Unified Government’s Stormwater Infrastructure Program. We went around the Argentine Neighborhood and visited a local business to learn how flood risks affects their everyday operations.
Kansas has experienced 39 extreme weather events in the last ten years. We need more resilient infrastructure to deal with these events and ensure access to clean water. That’s why the bipartisan infrastructure law ensures more resources to help with Kansas flood mitigation.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the infrastructure law is fiscally responsible. Now, my team is continuing to do whatever it can to help connect our communities with these federal resources.

Supporting Local Small Business
Entrepreneurship is baked into the DNA of the Kansas Third District. Our local small businesses support jobs throughout our communities. They deserve a government that’s a strategic partner for growth – not an obstacle.
That’s why as a member of the Small Business Committee, I was glad to check-in with several small businesses last week in Shawnee as part of National Small Business Week.
Please click here to learn more about it.
I was glad to meet with folks at Transport Brewery in Shawnee to hear more about the kinds of policies that can best serve our local entrepreneurs.
Kansas small businesses are at the heart of our communities. Unfortunately, many have also had a tough time lately. Recovering from the pandemic, higher costs, and other challenges haven’t made things easy.
That’s why after checking in with several local businesses, I held a roundtable to hear more about their specific concerns firsthand. I heard about workforce issues, access to capital, inflationary pressures, and more.
On the Small Business Committee, I’m working in a bipartisan way to help Kansas small businesses succeed. That includes supporting smaller and medium-sized manufacturers so we can make more products and jobs here at home. I’ve also helped pass bipartisan legislation in the House to help women entrepreneurs.

It’s an incredible privilege and honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.
