Last night, Donald Trump gave his third State of the Union address — and just like the previous two, all we heard were more lies.
Trump had the nerve to proclaim he's protecting pre-existing conditions when his administration is in court trying to wipe them out.
He boasted about taking on the drug companies, yet the bill we passed in the House to do just that as part of our For the People agenda is still sitting on Mitch McConnell’s desk — all while the cost of prescription drugs continues to skyrocket.
He says he's fighting for working people when, in reality, he's lining his own pockets and handing out massive tax cuts for his super-wealthy friends.
Worst of all, time and time again, he has eroded our democracy, abused his power, and threatened our national security.
So, don't believe it when Trump tells you that the state of our union is strong because of him — it's not.
It's because folks like you helped elect the most diverse Congress this country has ever seen, and we're fighting to make progress on critical issues that impact people every day. Know that as we confront these monumental challenges, we’re facing them together.
And together, we can eradicate the cancer that threatens our democracy and continue our long, necessary, and majestic march toward a more perfect union.
