Fellow Democrat,

Today is a dark day for our democracy. 

Instead of holding President Trump accountable, Senate Republicans, with one exception, folded. Nearly all of them voted in lockstep to enable the President’s betrayal of our Constitution, our values, and our democratic institutions. 

The evidence was overwhelming: President Trump withheld Ukranian military aid to solicit political dirt so he could cheat in an election. Yet, nearly every Republican Senator refused to even hear from witnesses. 

President Trump’s defense? I can do whatever I want. His lawyers argued the law doesn’t apply to him. Republicans were cowards. They put their own re-elections ahead of our country and set a dangerous precedent that will haunt our democracy. 

We cannot let this become business as usual. The Republican Party chose political gain over the American people -- that’s why we must vote President Trump and his Republicans enablers out in November. The sad fact is, Republicans have proven that they are more interested in protecting President Trump than in respecting the rule of law. 

Republican priorities stand in stark contrast to what we’ve been able to accomplish here in New Jersey. Here, we’re fighting day in and day out at all levels of government for the middle class, not the wealthy and well-connected. We’re working hard to build a stronger, fairer New Jersey for everyone -- even if Republicans at the national level refuse to do the same.

In times like these, it is more important than ever to have you standing with us. Will you contribute today to help Democrats take every single ballot box, from local races to the White House, by storm?
