John,
For the second year in a row, gun violence prevention didn't get mentioned in the State of the Union address. Not even once – even after a shooting at Texas A&M University-Commerce and mass shootings in California, Maine and Mississippi already this month.
The White House promised to finally take concrete actions to prevent gun violence following the tragedies in El Paso and Dayton this past August, but it's done nothing to make good on that commitment. Meanwhile, the Senate is heading into its 12th month of flat-out refusing to vote on the House's historic universal background checks bill – a bill that we know would save lives.
We can't accept that – not when more children's lives are at risk every minute we don't act. So please: Will you help us reach 20,000 petition signatures by midnight tomorrow to put massive pressure on the White House and Congress to finally prioritize gun violence prevention?
Click here to sign our petition demanding the White House and Congress make gun safety reforms like universal background checks a top priority in order to protect children from gun violence.

We refuse to sit back and watch as our political leaders make empty promises and ignore lifesaving legislation. Thank you for joining us in ramping up the pressure on the White House and Congress to take real action – your commitment to saving lives makes all the difference.
