John, climate scientists have made it abundantly clear: time is of the essence. To avoid the very worst impacts of the climate crisis we have to end the era of fossil fuels NOW – which is why we’re ramping up our public pressure campaign on President Biden.
From June 8 - 11, we’ll be participating in a nationwide week of action with the 350 Network Council and our coalition partners at People vs. Fossil Fuels.
President Biden promised to be a climate president.
Yet the U.S. continues to be the biggest producer of oil and gas in the world. And the progress the Biden Administration has made promoting renewable energy and electric vehicles has been undermined by the President’s approval of new fossil fuel projects, like the Willow Project and the Alaska LNG export project.
This week of action is the first, essential step in our summer of escalation – with all of these events leading up to the UN’s global climate accountability summit in September. UN Secretary General António Guterres has established the ‘ticket to entry’ as tangible action to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
With President Biden’s recent fossil fuel project approvals, the U.S. is on track to be excluded from this summit and miss out on a critical opportunity to collaborate with international partners to fight climate change.
Thank you for being with us in this fight,
Team 350
