John: Jack Phillips of the Masterpiece Cakeshop is being targeted by the woke left once again for standing by his religious beliefs and the Coalition for Jewish Values is now standing with Jack. The blatant persecution of Jack Phillips is emblematic of the effort by woke progressives to drive religious conscience from the public sphere. On the very day that the Supreme Court agreed to hear his original case a recently-minted "woman" called the store in order to "challenge the veracity" of Phillips' statement that he would serve all customers. Jack declined to bake a cake to celebrate his "transition" into a "woman" with over 30 trillion XY chromosomes and now she won’t stop until she shuts down Jack’s bakery for good. It took over two years for Jack to enforce his rights last time and it looks like Jack has another uphill battle on his hands. The Amicus we submitted to the Colorado Supreme Court is joined by both Christian and Muslim organizations, to show that this is not an issue particular to one religion, but an issue of First Amendment liberty critical to all. Our brief doesn't merely defend Phillips and our mutual religious liberties. It declares that Colorado's systemic First Amendment violations have become a national embarrassment. After all, this is the same state that sought to coerce a web designer into choosing between designing custom websites for anti-Biblical weddings, or not celebrating weddings at all. The Founding Fathers built a country in which people of all faiths were not merely tolerated but welcomed. Unfortunately, the woke leftists continue to challenge it and we need to be there to stand up against their wayward agenda. Americans of all faiths are entitled to these rights and liberties which is why people of good conscience must stand up at this critical time and let the left know we won’t be bullied by their tactics any longer.
