With all the chaos in national politics lately, the important things right here in Virginia sometimes get overshadowed.

But the truth is, what we do from now until November will have lasting consequences for the rights and freedoms of all Virginians. That’s why I want to share more about how we can protect our progress from far-right attacks, and hold Richmond Republicans accountable.

Here’s why we’re counting on your support this election season:

First, the battle for abortion rights.

Right-wing delegates submitted legislation earlier this year to make all abortions illegal in the state of Virginia. And Gov. Youngkin openly admitted that he’ll happily sign anti-choice legislation when it reaches his desk.

The only reason he hasn’t had the chance yet is because pro-choice Democrats hold a narrow majority in the State Senate.

But that majority is by no means guaranteed. The stakes to protect and expand our majority this November couldn’t be higher.

Second, holding Republicans accountable.

Gov. Youngkin and his right-wing allies are endangering Virginians with their radical agenda. From criminalizing women’s healthcare, to gutting environmental and climate legislation, to targeting LGBTQ students in schools, they’re launching an all-out assault on our most basic rights and freedoms.

Only a strong, united, and prepared Democratic opposition can stop them. With your support, Defend Democracy PAC will make sure Virginia Democrats have the resources they need to fight back.

Third, preparing for November and beyond. Virginians will vote in more than 2,000 local and state elections this year. While Republicans can rely on their dark-money financiers and MAGA megadonors, Democrats’ success depends on grassroots support.
