John — we emailed you a few weeks ago to tell you about the slew of hateful anti-transgender bills Republicans have introduced this year, and we wanted to reach out with an important update.
Unfortunately, the GOP is escalating its attacks on trans people. Florida just expanded its "Don't Say Gay or Trans" law to censor LGBTQ+ students and teachers. Oklahoma signed a trans health care ban into law last week. And a state representative in Colorado recently called out dangerous anti-trans rhetoric used against her and other members of the trans community by a Republican on the House floor.
This isn't a threat — these attacks are real, and they're endangering the trans community. EMILYs List candidates are working to defend the rights of trans people in states across the country. We firmly believe that everyone should have the right to make decisions about their own bodies and express themselves freely.

John, we are appalled by the Republicans' recent attacks on our trans family and friends.
Since the beginning of 2023 alone, at least 492 bills have been introduced across 47 states with the intent to block trans people from accessing health care, education, or legal recognition, and even from simply existing in public spaces without fear. Of these nearly 500 pieces of legislation, 36 have been successfully passed and 363 remain active in their respective legislative chambers as of April 10.
After years of calculated attacks on our reproductive freedom, it should come as no surprise that GOP lawmakers are using bigotry, inflammatory rhetoric, and dangerous (and baseless) fear tactics to justify anti-trans legislation. It's all the same agenda: to destroy our bodily autonomy.
So please, stand with EMILYs List and donate now to support Democratic pro-choice candidates who will FIGHT BACK against Republican extremism.
