Yesterday, Governor Moore signed the final bills of our Office’s top legislative priorities into law!
|
The first bill, the Supporting All Taxpayers Act of 2023, creates the Office of the State Taxpayer Advocate within the Comptroller's Office, which will help resolve tax issues and work to ensure a more equitable and accessible tax administration system for Maryland taxpayers.
The second bill promotes fairness, putting Maryland-based Pass-Through-Entities (PTEs) on equal tax footing with out-of-state peers.
Since becoming Comptroller, I’ve spent every day working to improve our state’s systems, and I was so proud to see these important bills become law. There’s more work to do to put these bills into effect, but this was a huge first step. I’m grateful to the General Assembly and Governor for their support!
I look forward to all the ways we’ll continue to work together to build a better future for everyone in Maryland.
My best,
(She, Her, Hers)
