After House Republicans failed to get their “Polluters Over People” Act signed into law in February, they found another way to sneak their agenda through: hold our entire economy hostage to get their “polluter wishlist” through Congress.


Time is running out for Congress to raise the debt ceiling and keep the government funded. Yet, with just weeks left, Republicans have amended the agreement to drastically cut widely-supported programs and efforts aimed at helping American families and building a clean energy future.


They're trying to force us to sacrifice these hard won environmental programs and investments by creating an economic crisis. Supporter, don't let them do this. We're pressuring Congress to keep the government funded and pass a clean debt ceiling package, without any cuts to the climate investments and environmental programs. But we need to know we have the resources to win this fight:

The House leadership's list of demands would be a dream come true to polluters:

- Slashing investments in clean energy, environmental justice and climate action.
- Undermining bedrock environmental laws, greenlighting the approval of polluting fossil fuel projects, and rubber stamping the controversial mountain valley pipeline.
- Eliminating popular programs passed in the Inflation Reduction Act to help consumers afford energy efficient upgrades to make their homes and businesses safer, more comfortable, and reduce their energy bills.
- Cutting vital programs designed to help families trying to make ends meet.

Simply put, this bill pushes the country to the brink of economic disaster while setting the country far behind our competition in the race to lead in the global clean energy economy.


Failing to raise the debt ceiling will harm millions of families. Cutting widely-supported clean energy and energy efficiency programs will cost us jobs while threatening our future.
