Hello,

Last month, I took an oath to "do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws" in "all things appertaining to the trial of" President Trump. Today, I concluded my service as a juror by voting guilty on both articles of impeachment.

Over the course of two weeks, I sat in the Senate Chamber as House Managers presented substantial, persuasive evidence that President Trump abused his power and obstructed Congress.

It had been my hope that, at such a grave and historic time for our country, Americans would see a fair trial. Instead, the majority of my Republican colleagues voted to overrule the will of the people and block additional witnesses and documents that would speak directly to the President's conduct. America deserved a fair trial, and it got a cover-up.

Even without additional witnesses or documents, after carefully reviewing all of the available evidence, I determined that House Managers not only met, but exceeded, any reasonable burden of proof standard. It is clear: President Trump abused his power and obstructed Congress' investigation.

There is no doubt that President Trump withheld military aid, and a vital White House meeting from Ukraine, in order to coerce its President into announcing a sham investigation of a political rival and a debunked conspiracy theory about the 2016 election. It has also been established that he solicited foreign interference in the 2020 election and then further abused his power by covering it up and obstructing Congress' investigation.

Now that the President's trial is concluded, the Senate will return to its regular business. I was sent to Washington to fight on behalf of working families, children, and seniors who deserve a fair shot at the American Dream. I will not stop working to hold this President accountable.

Thank you,

Bob
