Team — President Trump took the stage last night to deliver what will hopefully be his last State of the Union Address. And as expected, he had no intention of telling the American people the truth about the state of our union.

In fact, Speaker Nancy Pelosi summed up how we felt about the speech pretty well. 

The truth is — the state of our union is not as strong as President Trump wants us to believe. And unless you’re part of the 1%, our government has rigged the system against you.

This pattern of lies and deceit is exactly what led the House to call for Trump’s impeachment.

Let’s not forget, Trump and Republicans in Congress cheered as they burdened middle-class families with paying for tax cuts for billionaires. They’ve fought tooth and nail to make it harder for folks with preexisting conditions to get healthcare. They’ve done everything in their power to punish folks for simply being poor. And they’ve attacked and threatened our nation’s immigrants with jubilation.

That is not representative of a union that is strong; it is the sign of a union that is corrupt.

That has been Republican’s vision for America all along, and it’s been the vision that Yvette has been fighting against every day in Congress. 

She has fought to expand healthcare opportunities to all Americans by supporting Medicare for All. She has fought to expand and protect affordable housing opportunities for our communities, including co-sponsoring the Public Housing Emergency Response Act (H.R.4546), to appropriate emergency funds to reinvest in public housing. She has rejected attempts by this administration to burden our community’s most vulnerable with unnecessary steps to receiving the assistance they need. And she has worked to provide legal protections to immigrants facing Trump’s wrath.

And now, with the 2020 elections in front of us, we’re asking you to help. Do you think you could chip in $10, $15, or whatever you can to support Yvette’s fight to level the playing field and create a union that is truly strong?
