Congratulations to Elise for identifying Foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia). According to Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia, this plant, also known as Heart-leaved Foamflower, looks as wonderful as a ground cover in shady locations as it does in a container on a patio or balcony. The plant’s tiny, star-shaped flowers and fine-textured stamens resemble foam, accounting for its common name. Make sure you check out some of the many upcoming native plant sales to look for this and other native plants.
